Celebrating 2 Years of HomePhysio By Nicola: A Reflection on a Rollercoaster Journey

Two years ago, I embarked on a journey that has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, and today, I want to take a moment to reflect on our incredible progress, express my gratitude to my amazing team, and share the highs and lows of running HomePhysio By Nicola.

From the outset, it was just me, a vision, and a passion for providing top-notch home physiotherapy services. Fast forward two years, and we've grown into a team of four strong, committed individuals. I couldn't have achieved this without the unwavering support and trust of my incredible team, who believed in my vision and joined this innovative service.

We became the first to employ Technical Instructor Physiotherapy Assistants, a move that has enabled us to broaden our services and better cater to the needs of our clients. We've also successfully launched private falls prevention classes, a crucial step in enhancing the health and well-being of those we serve.

One of our proudest achievements, and an honour, was to receive the highly commended community impact award in the Scottish Borders business Excellence Awards 2023, a testament to our dedication to making a difference in our community.

Reflecting on these two years, I can't help but acknowledge the emotional rollercoaster this journey has been. There have been moments of self-doubt that threatened to overwhelm me, but they were always met with moments of celebration and a sense of accomplishment. Fear often accompanied the start of new projects, but motivation and sheer determination carried us through, despite the exhaustion.

Imposter syndrome is a real and formidable challenge that I've grappled with, but it's a reminder that growth and self-development are ongoing processes. It takes faith in oneself and a willingness to push through the self-doubt to continue making progress. With the faith and support of Shona Fairbairn, Arlene Easton and Amanda Bell they give me the strength to make the sky the limit.

Leaving the NHS was a daunting decision, but not once have I looked back with regret. This journey has given me the freedom to engage in service development and project work, allowing us to craft the best home physiotherapy service that truly lights me up every day.

None of this would have been possible without the support and encouragement of countless individuals. My husband has been a pillar of strength, and I'm eternally grateful for the flexibility this journey has brought, allowing me to be present for my children and being their for them during school pick-ups and drop-offs.

As we celebrate two years of HomePhysio By Nicola, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my dedicated team, my supportive family, and everyone who has been part of this journey. Here's to more growth, more impact, and many more years of making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve. Thank you for being a part of this incredible adventure.
