As we celebrate our third anniversary at HomePhysio By Nicola Ltd, reflecting on how far we’ve come is both humbling and exciting. What began as Nicola's vision for personalised, home-based physiotherapy has flourished into a full-fledged, multi-faceted business that reaches every corner of the Scottish Borders—from Berwick to Peebles. Our journey has been a rollercoaster of challenges, triumphs, and countless rewarding moments, and today we are so grateful to mark this milestone with all of you.
Starting as a solo venture, our team has grown to five dedicated professionals. We are immensely proud to be the first physiotherapy business in the Scottish Borders to employ highly skilled Technical Instructor Physiotherapy Assistants, an incredible step toward expanding our support for every patient’s needs. Today, HomePhysio By Nicola Ltd is the largest exclusively domiciliary physiotherapy service in the Scottish Borders, offering comprehensive care right at your doorstep, with no need for travel to a clinic.
Over the past three years, we’ve broadened our services to embrace all ages and conditions, ranging from pregnancy, paediatrics, and sports injuries to orthopaedic recovery, neurological care, and elderly support. Our specialised services have grown to include Sonas dementia therapy, women’s health, continence, falls prevention classes, and massage therapy. This expansion of care allows us to help individuals and families of all ages and conditions which was the big dream when launching the business. Dreams can come true with drive, determination, passion for doing a job you love and having the support of an innovative and inspiring team.
This year was particularly momentous as we moved into our dedicated office space and enhanced our equipment to support our patients even more effectively. New additions like the Saebo Stim for functional electrical stimulation, Motomed bike for upper and lower limb rehabilitation, EasyStand Evolv standing frame, and specialised tools like suction cupping and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation have elevated the quality of care we can offer. These tools allow us to support our patients in rebuilding their strength, mobility, pain management and confidence in every step of their recovery.
It’s a true honour to receive recognition for our commitment to fair and supportive working conditions. Winning the "Highly Commended" award for Fair Work Business of the Year in the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards was an affirmation of our values, and being a finalist for Female Founder of the Year in the Women in Business awards was a deeply meaningful milestone for Nicola. Furthermore, establishing the Borders Independent Health Professionals Network has strengthened our connection with the local healthcare community, amplifying our shared vision of accessible, high-quality healthcare across the Scottish Borders.
Through it all, we’ve experienced the full spectrum of emotions that come with running and growing a business—from the excitement of success to the challenge of setbacks. There have been moments of doubt and steep learning curves, but every hurdle has strengthened our resilience and fueled our dedication. Our journey has been made possible by the steadfast support of family, friends, and our incredible team, whose hard work and innovation make everything we do possible and the Scottish Borders community placing their trust in our team to enhance their quality of life and enabling us to support them throughout their rehabilitation journey.
Reflecting on our achievements fills us with gratitude. Every patient we support and every life we touch is the heart of our work. We are deeply committed to bringing quality physiotherapy services to every home in the Borders, ensuring that all who need us have access to the care they deserve. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—your support has been the driving force behind our continued motivation to grow and improve every day. Here’s to many more years of service, growth, and making a difference in our community.
